Yr11 Mock Revision Guide
The mock paper will cover all the topics you have covered so far in the course; year 10 and year 11.

It is important that your revise each section and then apply your understanding by testing yourself using exam questions. Exam questions can be found on past tests, from lesson notes as well at the Yr11 Revision Questions Page.

TARGET your weakest area's based on previous tests and your own understanding in your revision.

Your text book is also a very useful resource; at the end of each section it has common questions with answers and examiner feedback.

Revision Guide

1: The three categories of a healthy and active lifestyle. Social, Mental & Physical.
2: Benefits of taking part in physical actvity e.g. increase fitness, relieve stress, increase confidence.
3: Reasons for taking part in physical activity e.g. to make new friends, competition, aesthetic appreciation.
4: Influences of taking part. People, image, cultural factors, resources, health and wellbeing, socio-economic.
5: Opportunities for getting involved in sport e.g. Can you describe initiatives to keep people involved?
6: Sports Participation Pyramid. Label and explain each stage on the pyramid.
7: Health, Exercise, Fitness and Performance. Define. How do they relate to eachother?
8: The five components of health related exercise. Define and provide sporting examples.  
9: The six components of skill related fitness. Define and provide sporting examples.
10: Assessing fitness levels: Know what is meant by PAR -Q. Describe fitness tests.
11: The principles of training: Explain each principle and how it is applies. Why do we apply each of them them to sport?
12: Goal Setting: What are SMART goals and why do we set them?
13: Methods of Training. Know and describe the 6 methods and which sports they are suited to.
14: Analysing training; heart rate, resting HR, working HR, training zones/target HR, Maximum HR. Recovery rate.
15: The link between exercise, dietm work and rest.
16: Differenr body types. Endomorph, ectomorph and mesomorph.
17: Optimum weight, weight related conditions.
18: Performance Enhancing Drugs and Recreational Drugs.
19: Risk assessment and the prevention of injury.
20: Potential injuries to the muscular and skeletal system and their treatment.
21: Effects of exercise on the cardiovascular system.
